Lisa J. Beard-Niemann is the Director of Employee Plans, Examinations, within the Tax Exempt & Government Entities Division (TEGE) of the IRS. She is responsible for overseeing the national compliance enforcement programs for qualified retirement plans.
Lisa was previously with the Large Business and International Division (LB&I). She served as both the Assistant to the Industry Director, Global High Wealth, and the Assistant to the Director of Advance Pricing Mutual Agreement, Office of Transfer Pricing, International.
Prior to joining LB&I, Lisa was the Program Manager for TEGE Government Entities. Lisa also served on the staff of the Deputy Commissioner for Services and Enforcement where she was responsible for the coordination and oversight of the service wide legislative implementation plan.
Lisa began her career with the Internal Revenue Service in 1987 as a Revenue Agent and International Examiner. Lisa spent ten years in the LMSB International Tax Treaty Division leading US negotiations on double taxation cases and Advance Pricing Agreements. In 2004, Lisa joined SB/SE Offshore Abusive Transactions and subsequently began her management career.
Lisa holds degrees in Business Administration and Management from Salisbury University, and Accounting from the University of Maryland. Lisa is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Virginia. She resides in Maryland with her husband, daughter and a spoiled chocolate lab.
