Gig Economy: The "old" new class of workers

Wednesday, May 16, 2018 - 3:00pm4:15pm

More and more individuals are working for themselves, often associated with large organizations whose mission is to match those needing service with those able to provide the service. Workers appreciate working for themselves, customers appreciate the expansion of services decreasing prices as supply increases and costs are cut. This session will start with what is important to ensure that the workers are not employees of the organizations with which they are associated and quickly move to how those workers can provide retirement and welfare benefits for themselves. As more and more clients move to this structure, the importance of maintaining benefits that are needed cannot be overemphasized.
