Lisa C. Germano, JD, CPA, President and General Counsel, Actuarial Benefits & Design Company. Lisa is admitted to the Bars of Virginia and Ohio and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant by the Commonwealth of Virginia. She also serves as Principal in the law firm of Coyner & Germano, located in Charlottesville, Virginia. Lisa has served multiple years on the board of directors and been appointed to numerous high level committees for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the IRS. She currently co-chairs the Internal Revenue Service EP/EO Joint Council meeting and is a faculty member of the National Employee Benefits Conference In September of 2012 Lisa received the National MS Award for Women on the Move for her outstanding professional accomplishments and her involvement with the Greater Richmond Community in Junior Achievement and the Joan Gross Fegely Foundation for Ovarian Cancer, Education & Research which to date has raised $70,000 to support early detection, treatments and ongoing support for survivors. In 2011, Lisa was inducted as a Fellow into the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel for her significant contributions in the employee benefits field and received the inaugural AICPA Sustained Contribution Award for her contributions to the CPA profession. In 1996 Lisa received the Hammer Award from Vice President Gore for her regulatory work with the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. Since 2001, Lisa has been nominated by her peers as a Super CPA for Virginia Business Magazine. Lisa is a frequent speaker at national conferences and for professional organizations. She is often quoted in national publications and is the author of numerous retirement planning articles relating to the technical aspects of pension law and its administration. She has been a contributing Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Pension Benefits and is a former editor of the Pension Plan Administrator.
